Fields of Gold

Every year, a lady from the town of Deer Park, rents some farm fields and plants thousands of sunflowers. She does this solely for the beauty and delight of local visitors.  It has developed into THE sight to see each Summer as the gorgeous flowers spread wide across 2 different fields, most likely around 50 acres per field.  This year, I took my family to see the flowers and also decided to take Bron along for some Hoof N Paw photos 🙂  Everyone enjoyed the scenery immensely.

And, we stopped by a wheat field to allow Bron some running room 🙂

I think he wanted to drive us all home…

Elegant Eddie

This past Sunday evening, I had a mini photo shoot at Manito Park.  My subject was a beautiful, graceful, retired racing Greyhound, Eddie.  And, he brought his lovely owner, Carolyn, with him.  It was the perfect evening in the lower 80’s with some cloud cover.  That is the kind of light I prefer as it diffuses and softens the shadows.

We had our work cut out attracting Eddie’s attention because toys and funny noises are often of no interest when you are a regal hound 🙂  He has an old soul about him that commands grace and an unshakably calm persona.  Yet, when he saw squirrels, his attention was captured!

Towards the end of our session time, we took a walk through the flower gardens.  Eddie looked so perfect in the midst all those blooms.  He is a tall boy but at times was dwarfed by the plantings.  So much beauty all around us and Eddie fit it like a glove.  It was such a privilege to take his photos!

Thank you, Eddie!

New fun and possibilities!

What has arrived that could possibly send me over the moon in excitement?  It has to do with a dream and how it seemed so far out of reach for me…

A Canon 6D, fresh out of the box and into my hands!  It is mine to keep!  Oh, bless all husbands who so happily enrich their wives with cherished dreams!  I, of course, had to run outside and use it immediately.  Mr. Balan was fresh out of the sprinkler and feeling more obliging than usual for me to snap his photo.  Bronster Monster is my typical model of choice but I need to keep up on nice photos of Balan as he continues to age.  For memory and my heart’s sake.

I’ll be using the 6D at a photo shoot with a client this weekend.  That will be the real test.  Although, I’ll give myself some grace over the new learning curve of using a full frame camera versus a crop.  So, my old crop camera will go with me.  The comfortable is often hard to part with.  I’m positive it will still be very useful.

Here’s to looking forward to the continuing possibilities and advancement of this business that I so adore!
